Summer is coming up, and it’s that time of the year where you look forward to shedding the layers of clothes, as well as some kilos of the tummy. Trust me; if you’re looking for a good time to start then it would be right about now!

The natural trend is to eat lighter during the summer and go easy on the junk for obvious reasons. But that doesn’t mean that you need to leave the dinner table still hungry and dissatisfied. Having about three to four cups of fruits and vegetables a day along with some low fat yogurt or skim milk should fill you up just fine and go really easy on the calories.

The key here is filling your body up with fiber-rich foods that take up a lot of space in the stomach for a very low caloric count. Fiber-rich foods help regulate the blood sugar levels as well and make sure that the release is slow and continuous, it also prevents you from feeling full one minute and hungry the next.

One tip that you should absolutely follow during the summers is to keep your body well hydrated. Drink a lot of water, you’ve probably heard this a million times but this cannot be stressed enough! The last thing you want is to end up on a hospital bed with a saline drip hanging over your head like a guillotine! Drink up five to six liters of water daily before after and during exercise so that you stay well hydrated. Drink some Gatorade or Glucose drinks to make sure that your body gets the necessary salts and doesn’t cramp up from time to time!

You can cheat your body into exercising by just getting out a little more. India is a beautiful country with a lot of beautiful spots to visit and a lot of mountains to trek on, oceans to swim in, rivers and lakes to row boats in and open fields to play in. Make sure to get out with the family or friends and do some outdoor activities which act as an exercise too!

Another superb tip that you’re going to thank us for is to divide your three meals into two halves and eat 5-6 meals a day so that you eat from time to time and maintain a high metabolism that prevents you from storing fat on the body and keeps you lean and mean!
